Rising Unemployment and Mismatched Graduates in Somalia

In recent years, Somalia has witnessed a steady rise in unemployment rates, particularly among its youth. The lack of job opportunities has led to a sense of frustration and disillusionment, highlighting the urgency of addressing this issue. One contributing factor to this problem is the rapid increase in the number of students graduating from universities and colleges across the country. However, a significant portion of these graduates find themselves ill-equipped to meet the demands of the job market. The discrepancy between their acquired skills and the skills required by employers has created a serious barrier to employment.

By encompassing an array of practical skills and industry-relevant areas

As the number of graduates surges annually, the gap between the skills they possess and the skills the job market demands has become glaringly evident. Traditional curricula often struggle to keep up with rapidly evolving industries, leaving graduates with theoretical knowledge that may not align with practical requirements. This mismatch leaves many graduates stranded in a cycle of unemployment, while employers face difficulties finding suitable candidates for their vacancies.

Objectives and goals

The primary objective of HannoSkill is to equip graduates and youth
with the practical skills demanded by the job market, enhancing their employability and
positioning them as skilled professionals.

By providing targeted training, the program seeks to reduce
the unemployment rate among recent graduates and youth by preparing them for diverse
roles in the multimedia and communications sectors.

HannoSkill endeavors to make participants industry-relevant by
